The one and only Paul McCartney has apparently been quite productive since quarantine began. Last week, Sir Paul announced that he will be releasing McCartney III, the third in a trilogy of albums dating back to 1970 (McCartney) and 1980 (McCartney II). The album was recorded entirely at McCartney’s home in Sussex.

According to The Guardian, the songs were built from live takes of McCartney singing over piano and guitar accompaniments, with McCartney’s drum and bass parts later added in. According to the same article, McCartney stated the following about working on the record:

“It was about making music for yourself rather than making music that has to do a job,” he says. “I had some stuff I’d worked on over the years but sometimes time would run out and it would be left half finished so I started thinking about what I had. Each day, I’d start recording with the instrument I wrote the song on and then gradually layer it all up. It was a lot of fun.”

McCartney III will be available on December 11th, and you can pre-order it here.
