In another shocking artist reunion announcement, post-hardcore six-piece Scary Kids Scaring Kids have announced that they’re back together and will be hitting the road this January for a west coast run celebrating the fifteen-year anniversary of their debut album, The City Sleeps In Flames.
The band will be joined by Cove Reber (ex-Saosin), who will be taking over all vocal duties on the tour (original vocalist Tyson Stevens sadly passed away in October 2014 at the age of 27). The 11-date run begins on January 13th in Orangevale, CA, and will conclude on January 24th in Houston, TX.
On each date, the band will be joined by non-profit organization To Write Love On Her Arms, who will have a physical presence at each show and be on-site to “bring life-changing conversations about mental health as well as distribute information about available resources to audiences across the west coast. TWLOHA’s Director of Outreach, Chad Smith, provided a statement regarding the new partnership via press release:
"For the past 13 years TWLOHA has made it our business to show up where people come together. Those spaces have included festivals, tours, and shows all over the world; and they've included moments of joy and moments of retreat. We believe that music is a safe place, a sort of home we run to in attempts to make sense of our lives. So when Scary Kids Scaring Kids approached us with their hopes for this tour, we identified a common heartbeat. This tour gives both the band and their fans a unique opportunity to revisit the past, honoring the honesty and artistry that made up our soundtrack. And in turn we also get the chance to reflect and focus on our fears and dreams, what we've lost and gained, and celebrate stories that are still going. We've found that so often, people are willing to speak up about mental health issues as long as they feel as if they are in good company. So the hope is for this tour to be a springboard for conversation, empowering our communities to find the help they deserve."
Scary Kids Scaring Kids’ keyboardist Pouyan Afkary also made a statement surrounding the recent reunion via press release: "We couldn't be more excited to return to the stage and friends that we grew to love over our many years of touring. The memories we've shared in the venues and cities we're returning to have been a formative part of our lives, and many of our favorite. Can't wait to share these songs and make new memories together after so many years."
