Saosin - Along The Shadow

Saosin
Along The Shadow
Release Date: May 20, 2016
Producer: Chris Sorenson
Label: Epitaph Records

It is crazy to think that Anthony Green only recorded a single EP with Saosin upon the inception of the band. Yet, to this day, even when Cove Reber was in the band and did a mind-blowingly impressive job as vocalist (and the only vocalist to record two albums prior to this one with the band) everyone pined for the day that Green would return, even for just a song, and reunite with the band.

Fans got the mother of all wishes today, as Saosin have dropped their third studio album, their first with Anthony Green performing vocal duties. I'll put it this way: it's as perfect as anyone could imagine. There isn't a bad track at any point. Even if there is a section of a track that calms down, it's only momentary as the band fully empowers their musical chops, both musically and lyrically. Green sounds completely indestructible throughout the course of the eleven tracks. (Note: check out "The Secret Meaning of Freedom" if you want to have a crazy good time). Every single area of this band feels completely tuned in and on point, and this record emphasizes the fact that they're back and not fucking around, by any stretch of the imagination.

What a hell of a way to come back from a three and a half year hiatus. Welcome back.
