As I stated in my previous album review, I am going through several of the albums that I was sent for review and never got around to being able to write about. This was one of the EPs that I was sent in February that never got the attention it deserved.
It's very clear that pop-punk has had a massive resurgence during the past several years. The next artist to come out of this wave of artists is none other than Across All Oceans, a pop-punk quintet from Middlesborough, UK. 2016 sees the release of their self-released sophomore EP, Homegrown. It's a relatively short release, but it packs a punch.
Each of the five tracks are very straightforward, most of which begin with a distinct plucking of a clean guitar. The full band eventually kicks in, with near-shouted vocals from frontman Andrew Thomson filled with passion and intensity. The fact that the band was able to write and record this EP over two years whilst attending different universities and living in various cities throughout the UK goes to show that this band is willing to face the challenge and create something fantastic.
