On Wednesday night, “human musical group sensations” Glass Animals and their ‘Tour of Earth’ crash landed at Mountain View’s Shoreline Amphitheatre with support from special guests Eyedress. Hot off their new album, 2024’s I Love You So F***ing Much, Glass Animals has been garnering a lot of radio airplay with their new song “Creatures in Heaven”, along with their popular 2020 single “Heat Waves”. Needless to say, the nearly-sold-out show proved that the UK band are well known, with many in attendance ready for their highly anticipated tour stop donning pineapple sunglasses (it’s not a Glass Animals show without pineapples).
Looking fantastic as always, frontman Dave Bayley was on fire throughout the performance, keeping the audience engaged and hypnotized all the way through. The set fittingly began with “Life Itself”, from their 2016 sophomore album, How To Be A Human Being. For many Glass Animals fans like me, this was a perfect starting choice. Their first two albums (How To Be A Human Being and Zaba) are what made me fall in love with Glass Animals in the first place, so getting to see them pay their respect to the diehard fans was a fantastic way to start the show.
Shortly after this, the band went into another high-energy track, keeping the party going with “Your Love (Déjà Vu)” off of their 2020 album Dreamland, before heading into “Wonderful Nothing”, from I Love You So F***ing Much.
For the rest of the night, the setlist followed a similar trend with both new and old songs, keeping the vibes high while the crowd sang along. The band provoked the biggest singalongs during performances of “Gooey”, “Pork Soda” and encore selection “Heat Waves”
All in all, Glass Animals is a band that never disappoints. As someone who saw them go from a headlining position at Outside Lands Music Festival a few years ago, to finally headlining their own world tour, they are band that is not to be missed. From sound to performance and immaculate production, these guys know how to put on a fun show for everyone. Their “Tour of Earth” is not to be missed.
