Slash Announces New Blues Album 'Orgy of the Damned', 2024 S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Festival Tour
World renowned guitar player Slash, most famous for his tenure with rock and roll icons Guns N’ Roses, has announced that he will be releasing his sixth full length studio album, Orgy of the Damned, on May 17th via Gibson Records. The album will be blues-themed, aiming to celebrate the genre as a whole.
Following that announcement, the guitarist will be heading out on a brand new North American tour this summer, which he is dubbing ‘S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Festival’ (the anagram stands for Solidary, Engagement, Restore, Peace, Equality N’ Tolerance. In a press release announcing the tour, Slash stated the following:
“The S.E.R.P.E.N.T. tour is a celebration of blues and rock ‘n’ roll music, and a celebration of unity and togetherness in these uncertain and divisive times. S.E.R.P.E.N.T is a vehicle to help support and uplift people and communities suffering from the injustices of racism and equal rights violations, as well as to support children adversely affected by war and poverty across the world. So, we are contributing a portion of every ticket and VIP package sold from the tour to those ends. S.E.R.P.E.N.T. will also provide an environment where folks can get together for a day of great music and hang out and have a good time.”
The tour will feature support on select dates from Warren Haynes Band, Keb’ ‘Mo, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Robert Randolph, Samantha Fish, Eric Gales, ZZ Ward, Jackie Venson, and Larkin Poe (lineup varies by date). On each date, Slash will perform with his Blues band, which will feature bassist Johnny Griparic, keyboardist Teddy ‘ZigZag’ Andreadis, drummer Michael Jerome, and singer/guitarist Tash Neal.
A portion of ticket sales will directly benefit charities that Slash has handpicked: The Equal Justice Initiative, Know Your Rights Camp, The Greenlining Institute, and War Child. The tour has also partnered with PLUS1.ORG to support these charitable endeavors.
The tour is set to kick off on Friday, July 5th in Bonner, Montana, and will wrap up on August 17th in Grand Prairie, Texas. A Northern California date is slated for Friday, July 12th at Lincoln’s Thunder Valley Casino.
