The Smashing Pumpkins Announce North American Tour
The Smashing Pumpkins have announced a brand new North American tour dubbed “The World Is A Vampire” Tour. The band will be supported on select dates by Interpol, Rival Sons, and Stone Temple Pilots (check your local ticketing website for specific details surrounding each show’s lineup).
In a press release announcing the tour, frontman Billy Corgan stated the following:
”I grew up in a world where I needed to know bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees and The Cure existed, it meant there was a place for people like me to hang out and belong. That’s what The World Is A Vampire is about. Bringing back that sense of community. If you don’t fit in, you belong here. It’s about having a shared experience and respecting others, but ultimately having fun. A true alternative festival, where all the self-proclaimed weirdos and outsiders of the world can get together and have a party.”
The tour is slated to kick off on Friday, July 28th in Las Vegas, NV and will wrap up on September 9th in Noblesville, IN. The tour will make two Northern California stops: one on August 3rd at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, and one on August 7th at Toyota Amphitheatre in Wheatland. Additionally, the band are set to be one of the headliners at this year’s BottleRock Napa Festival, taking place this year from May 26th to 28th.
