Pink is truly a one-of-a-kind popstar, and her October 12th show at Sacramento’s Golden 1 Center only further cements this statement. It is rare to see an artist turn the entire arena into their stage, yet Pink seamlessly accomplishes this feat, making it look effortless in the process. Over the course of a twenty-three song set – spread out over the course of four acts – Pink captivated the Northern California audience with fan favorite tracks and excellent new material from her most recent studio album, TRUSTFALL.

The show was opened by Grouplove, a charismatic indie-alternative act that has been entertaining audiences for the better part of a decade. Given that it was an opening performance, the Los Angeles five-piece performed an amended set, one that differed from the usual theater headlining shows that they’re used to doling out. Even with a shorter set time, the band brought forth a fun performances to kick off the night.

Most artists begin their show by walking onto the stage, or even rising up from a platform beneath, adding a level of theatricality to their show. Pink takes this even further, emerging from a platform at the top of the stage before repelling down on wires and performing a series of acrobatic stunts while dishing out hits like “Get The Party Started” and “Raise Your Glass”. With beautifully choreographed dance numbers and aerial stunts, some acoustic renditions (“Please Don’t Leave Me”, “Don’t Let Me Get Me”), and covers thrown in for good measure (Joan Baez’s “Babe, I’m Gonna Leave You”, Sade’s “No Ordinary Love”, Pat Benatar’s “Heartbreaker”, and Bob Dylan’s “Make You Feel My Love”), there wasn’t a single moment of Pink’s “Trustfall” show that ever felt boring.

Pink knows how to structure a performance, highlight her strengths, and manage to make every moment feel as entertaining as the last. It’s no wonder she keeps making outstanding records and packing arenas around the world. If this is what her shows nine albums deep into her career, then it’s only guaranteed that album number ten is going to bring an even bigger party to the masses. Without a doubt, Pink is a must-see performance.
