Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante To Join Pantera On Upcoming Tour
The other day, we reported that the remaining members of Pantera (vocalist Phil Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown) would be reuniting for an extensive tour next year. The big question, however, was who would fill in for guitarist Dimebag Darrell and drummer Vinnie Paul, who have both since passed away.
It is officially being reported that guitarist Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne, Black Label Society) and drummer Charlie Benante (Anthrax) will be taking up the mantle on the upcoming tour. According to a report from Knotfest, “the lineup was given the go-ahead from the estates of both Vincent “Vinnie Paul” Abbott and “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott.” More information will be released in the coming months surrounding the tour.
Zakk Wylde rose to prominence as the lead guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne, as well as being the lead guitarist and lead singer of the heavy metal act Black Label Society. Charlie Benante is best known as the drummer of the legendary thrash metal act Anthrax, and has been performing with the band since 1983.
We will report more information as it become available.
