In a stunning announcement yesterday morning, the Jonas Brothers announced that they would be reuniting this year. With the announcement came a brand new song and music video, entitled “Sucker”, which was released at midnight today.
The Jonas Brothers first rose to prominent in 2006 after Radio Disney gave significant air-time to a track from the band’s first album, It’s About Time. The track in question, a cover song called “Year 3000” (originally performed by UK act Busted), skyrocketed the band in the stratosphere of fame. Hollywood Records signed the band and brought them into the world of Disney, where they sold millions of records, headlined arenas around the world, and became pop-culture icons.
After almost ten years of performing together, the band announced that they would stop performing music under the Jonas Brothers title. Both Nick Jonas and Joe Jonas went on to pursue successful careers in music, with the former launching a solo project, and the latter forming the pop-rock group DNCE. Kevin Jonas went on to form the real-estate development and construction company JonasWerner.
While there has been no other announcement surrounding an album or touring, it is clear that fans will be awaiting more information in the coming months. In the mean time, you can check out the full video for “Sucker” below.
