Mötley Crüe Announce They're Officially Back Together
Back in 2014, Mötley Crüe announced that they would not only be ending their career as a touring band and playing a year-long farewell tour (their last show took place in Los Angeles on New Years’ Eve in 2015), but that they would literally be signing a document that says they can legally never tour together again. There was, however, a loophole. According to a Rolling Stone interview that was conducted backstage with the band in 2014, bassist Nikki Sixx stated:
“Legally, we can’t play again. The only loophole is if all four band members agreed to do it, we could override our own contract. But we know that will never happen. There are people in this band who will refuse to ever do it again, and you’re talking to one of them. There is no amount of money that would ever make me do it again because I have such pride in how we’re ending it.”
It’s 2019, and Mötley Crüe just blew up that contract. No, literally, they posted a video that blew it up and announced their official reunion. The video explaining their reasoning for the reunion is narrated by none other than Machine Gun Kelly, who portrayed drummer Tommy Lee in Netflix’s adaptation of The Dirt, based on the biography of one of the world’s most notorious bands to ever tour the planet.
According to Rolling Stone, the band will be hitting the road this summer for a massive stadium tour with Def Leppard and Poison, although there is yet to be an official post from any of the artists’ official pages and websites. More details will surely surface within the next few months, and we’ll report back as soon as they become available.
