Black Label Society have a few brand new announcements up their sleeves this week. For starters, the band, formed by Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde, has reached an agreement with Entertainment One (eOne) to license their entire back catalogue. In addition to the three releases that have already been released through eOne, the company has acquired the licensing rights to the following titles in the band’s back catalogue: Sonic Brew, Stronger Than Death, 1919 Eternal, The Blessed Hellride, Hangover Music Vol. VI, Mafia, and Shot To Hell. This means that in the coming years, fans can expect these titles in never-before-released formats, which will become a must-have collectible for any BLS fan.
In conjunction with the news, the band have announced that they will be heading out on a North American tour dubbed the “20 Years of Sonic Brewtality Tour”, in honor of the release of a brand new, re-imagined version of Sonic Brew, the band’s debut LP from 1999. The new version is set to be released on May 17, 2019.
In a press release, Wylde stated the following surrounding the release of the re-imagined version of the record: “The original recording back in 1997 was mastered with high volume, alcohol and dance. We went in and worked off the existing performances and focused on the high volume and dance while replacing the booze with viagara and anabolic steroids.”
For each stop, the band will play two shows in each market: the first night shows the band performing Sonic Brew in its entirety, while the second will have the band playing through a number of greatest hits in their extensive back catalogue. The tour will feature support from Conan and The Atomic Bitchwax, and is slated to kick off on April 24th at The Oriental Theater in Denver. The tour will wrap up on May 23rd in Los Angeles, CA.
Tickets are set to go on sale this Friday, February 1st, 2019. You can view the full tour routing below, and mark your calendars for the May release of Sonic Brew - 20th Anniversary Blend 5.99-5.19!
