Hard Times, Bobby Tarantino, and Bloody Valentines: This Week In Bay Area Live Music

This week is an exceptionally busy week in Bay Area music. From the numerous shows going on at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View this week, to the punk and hardcore that'll be reverberating throughout the Great American Music Hall, and all the way to the galaxy far, far away that'll be presented at the Symphony Hall, this is a perfect week for Bay Area music fans. Below are some of our upcoming highlights for the week:

Two of the most prominent names in the post-hardcore genre will be stopping at GAMH for an exclusive co-headlining tour. Dates for this run are limited, so the fact that one of the only stops of this tour is in the Bay Area is a big deal.

Thirty Seconds To Mars will be stopping at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA this Wednesday for what is expected to be a massive performance in support of their fifth studio album, America. Between the spectacle that they always bring to their live performances, and the stacked lineup of opening acts that includes Walk The Moon, K. Flay, and Welshly Arms, this is one show not to miss this summer.

Bobby Tarantino himself. He came through the Shoreline two years ago when he co-headlined with Bay Area native G-Eazy, and now he's conquering the same venue on his own. Joined with support from NF and Kyle, the rapper that's been taking the world by storm will be sure to pull tracks from his Bobby Tarantino II mixtape and his massively successful studio album, Everybody.

My Bloody Valentine

Performing a North American tour for the first time since 2013 when they supported their last studio album, alternative rock icons My Bloody Valentine will be venturing over from their Dublin home to take on a full North American tour. Two dates of the tour include Oakland's Fox Theater, with the first night already sold out. If you were even thinking about possibly getting tickets, get them now.

SF Symphony Presents: Live Film Orchestra - Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope

Queue the iconic John Williams theme music! The San Francisco Symphony have been taking on a number of films over the years, in which a live symphony performs an iconic soundtrack in sync with a film on the screen. Set in the gorgeous Davis Symphony Hall in the heart of San Francisco, the orchestra will be taking on the classic John Williams' score for Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Use the Force and get your tickets. You have four different chances to catch the show!

One of the most anticipated tours of the entire year will be making its way to Shoreline on Saturday. Vocalist Hayley Williams, guitarist Taylor York, and drummer Zac Farro will be bringing "Tour 5" to Mountain View for what's sure to be a career-spanning set, while putting emphasis on their extremely successful fifth record, Hard Times. Indie rock icons Foster The People are co-headlining as well, providing what is set to be an incredibly memorable night of Bay Area music.

For what could possibly be their last time playing together, Oakland natives The Matches will be doing a ten-year anniversary show of their third album, A Band In Hope. The band have reunited only twice in the past several years (2014 and 2016), so it's a rare treat to see them perform. Given that up-and-coming Bay Area act Mt. Eddy will act as main support on the bill, you'll want to make sure you're there if you're a fan.

While this show is sold out, we had to mention it. Knife Party have been consistently putting on some of the biggest and craziest shows in electronic shows over the past several years. If you're going, or are trying to find a way to get a ticket, you're in for something special. Given that they usually play much larger venues and are doing an intimate club tour, this show is a must for any fan of electronic music.
