Circa Survive to Take The Stage in SF, Looking Back at 'On Letting Go'

Formed in 2004, indie-rock act Circa Survive have been captivating listeners and audiences throughout the world with their unique brand of indie and alternative music. The steady lineup, consisting of Anthony Green (vocals), Brendan Ekstrom (rhythm guitar), Colin Frangicetto (lead guitar), Nick Beard (bass), and Steve Clifford (drums), have released five albums thus far in the career, all charting on the Billboard 200 during their initial release.

A standout record among their collective discography is 2007's On Letting Go. Recorded throughout its release year at Salad Days Recording Studios in Baltimore and releasd through Equal Vision Records, Circa Survive set out to top their previous release, 2005's Juturna. Every emotionally charged song packs a punch, while still maintaining a feeling of experimentation behind it. Recruiting producer Bryan McTernan to help bring the album to life, the forty-five minute album captures powerfully emotional moments, impactful lyrics, and complex instrumentation. While it falls within the wheel house of "indie" rock, On Letting Go features elements of progressive rock and post-hardcore. Even the album artwork is captivating; its bold and vivid colors of a misshapen hot-air balloon hybrid burst out of the frame and capture any passerby's attention. Circa Survive's willingness to push themselves landed them a number 24 spot on the Billboard 200, with 24,000 copies of the album sold within its first week.

It's clear that On Letting Go is a special album in the hearts of Circa fans. To celebrate the ten-year anniversary of the album's release, the band are on the road for an anniversary tour, playing the album from front to back each night. Tomorrow, the tour will be making a stop at The Warfield Theater in San Francisco, CA. Joining the band are very special guests mewithoutYou and Turnover. With a lineup as epic as this, you're in for an incredible night.
