If you look back to last month, you saw that we did a HUGE amount of coverage surrounding Insomniac's EDC Orlando festival. We did interviews with as many artists as we possibly could that would be taking the stage at the festival. One interview in particular, however, was submitted to us after the deadline, due to the artist's demanding schedule getting ready to perform the festival. We still decided to run the article, as we wanted to make sure fans attending future festivals and show can check out their music! The artist, in question, is electronic music duo Venice.
You guys just released “Always Here” a little while ago. Congratulations! How would you say that the writing process of this track differed in comparison to writing a track like “Run to Me”?
All of our releases have some sort of meaning or back story to us, "Run to me" was a song dedicated to our fans showing them that we all have a safe haven that we run to in our hearts and hopefully, "Run to me" helped you take you there. "Always Stay" is a very special song to us because we all know or have had that one person in our life that we always think about when we absolutely need them in our lives and we do everything and anything to keep them there with us
How did your relationship with AVA Recordings come about? They seem like a really great fit for the kind of tracks you guys have been producing.
We have always been huge fans of Andy Moor growing up and his fantastic electro bass lines have been a great influence in our productions. We have such a soft spot for making groovy hard electro bass lines that we thought AVA Recordings would be a perfect fit. We reached out to AVA Recordings and they fell in love with our productions.
You’ve worked with Anki on a number of tracks throughout your career. How your relationship with her come about, and what did is it that made you know that her voice would be the right fit for tracks like “Always Here” and “Run to Me”?
Anki has been a longtime friend and colleague of ours professionally even before Venice really started anywhere. Since the beginning, we have always loved what she could bring in the genre of electronic music and thought she would be a perfect fit for our sound. She was an absolute pleasure to work with.
You’ll be playing at EDC Orlando. Huge congratulations! With festivals like EDC, fans are constantly having music, visuals and other distractions thrown at them throughout the evening. In your opinion, what do you think sets you guys apart from the other artists out there, that will make fans stop and go “guys, let’s check this set out”?
We have complete confidence in our sound, point blank. We believe what we bring to a music festival or even any show for that matter is the creativity and uniqueness in our sound. We have such an influence of other artists that we grew up listening to, that we took all of that and made our own sound, our own groove if you will. In saying that, in live shows that we perform, we like to take pride in our visuals that we have. Nowadays not only is the selection of music important to your show, but also the quality of your visuals. That’s something that we take very serious and want to give nothing but the best visuals and show for our fans.
This the last question that I ask to every artist that I interview. It’s rather broad, but what does music mean to you?
Music to us, is simply everything. All we ever do is talk about music. Whether we are in the car going somewhere, we are constantly showing each other new tracks and ideas that we can influence from or we are making witty references in conversation about songs and such. We both come from a very strong musical background and we take pride in that very much
