It's rather clear that 2016 was not the year with the greatest track record among citizens of the world. An incredulous amount of things simply just going wrong or evolving way out of proportion made people feel more elated than usual when the ball dropped in Times Square to signify the new year. In terms of music, 2017 is starting off very, very strong. With the new year brings the sophomore effort from Cherry Hill, New Jersey's metalcore outfit Chasing Safety

Clocking in just under forty minutes, Nomad brings forth booming choruses against chugging metalcore, ferocious screams and satin-smooth vocal lines. The guitar work is just complex enough to keep you on your feet, working well in harmony with the heavy-hitting rhythm section. The production work from Kile O'Dell and Curtis Martin (who also oversaw the mixing and mastering processes for the album) blends together seamlessly to create a powerful record.

Lyrically, the album seems to touch on the themes of overwhelming responsibility that one begins to take on as they grow up in life. Vocalist Johnny Galivan speaks from a place of sincerity and, at the time, what appears to be loneliness. The lyrics reflect on putting together the puzzle pieces in one's life and the feelings that come with growing up and making decisions about the direction of your life that are entirely your own. It's a sentiment and trait of the album that brings with it a feeling of sincerity, both lyrically and musically.
